What started as a humble idea to create a small, portable solar lamp for people without electricity in Ethiopia is now a global project that has changed over two million lives through the awesome power of the sun.

Little Sun Diamond

Robust as it is beautiful, Little Sun Diamond is the third member of the family. It’s pocketsized, featherweight and radiates a sparkling glow.

Designed by artist Olafur Eliasson and featuring a faceted lens inspired by nature, it’s the best friend for urban explorers and nature lovers alike.

The incorporated stand makes it a great reading lamp. Exchange the stand for the lanyard and take it with you and it becomes a little piece of sunshine wherever you go!

5 hours of charging in the sun gives you 5 hours of bright light, fading to long-lasting soft light.

Little Sun Original

"The iconic high-quality portable solar lamp is the perfect introduction to personal solar-powered light – designed by artist Olafur Eliasson it’s great for camping, festivals, at the beach, or for brightening your home, garden, or balcony.

Kids love the lamp – as a nightlight or for playtime – which makes it easy to teach them about sustainable living.

Featuring a dimmer, you can easily adjust the brightness of the lamp to what you need. 5 hours of charging in the sun produces more than 50 hours of light at the dimmest setting or 4 hours at the brightest setting."

BRAND STORY

Launched in 2012 by artist Olafur Eliasson and engineer Frederik Ottesen at London’s Tate Modern, Little Sun’s social business brings clean, reliable, affordable energy to the 1.1 billion people in the world living without electricity while raising awareness for energy access and climate action worldwide. Little Sun light is bringing solar energy in more than 10 African countries, including Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Kenya, Senegal, and Ghana – with many more to come. So far (as of December 2018), we have distributed a total of 838,308 Little Suns worldwide. Of those, over 510,844 lamps went to areas without electricity. And that number is rapidly growing…
